The hidden cost of doing it yourself
An hour of a staff member's time, fuel, parking, and the work that did not get done while they were out — a single “quick drop” across town usually costs a business more than the delivery would have. It also takes someone away from the job they were hired to do.
The other cost is unpredictability. When deliveries depend on whoever happens to be free, they happen late, or not at all, and the customer is the one who notices.
